Biological purification

In case of biological treatment the purpose is usually to reduce the COD, BOD and/or N concentration in the water stream. To this end nitrification and/or denitrification are often the best option. These techniques involve breaking down the pollution by means of specific bacteria.

A biological treatment installation can operate in batches or continuously, depending on the volume of the waste stream and the waste load.

After the actual purification the sludge and water must be separated from each other. There are several alternative ways to do this: sedimentation, flotation or membranes (MBR).

PCA can help you with this technology, both in design and construction of the installation.
